The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan features an extensive network of primary, secondary, and tertiary medical facilities and hospitals overseen by various public and private entities. With a population of <\/span>11.6 million<\/span><\/a> in 2024<\/span>, including a significant proportion of registered refugees (Palestine refugees (<\/span>2.4 million<\/span><\/a>), refugees from the Syrian Arab Republic and other places (<\/span>0.7 million<\/span><\/a>), Jordan maintains a health system that is both functional and yet fragmented.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”TEXT – BLOCK 2 ” _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||1em||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n The Jordanian health system comprises two principal public health care administrators and numerous private sector entities, independent organizations, and international bodies functioning as health care providers and payers. The kingdom\u2019s <\/span>ministry of health<\/span><\/a> (MOH)<\/span>, as the primary public health administrator, delivers health services to all civil servants, retirees, and their families and caters to people in vulnerable groups. It operates a financial entity, the <\/span>Health Insurance Administration<\/span><\/a> (HIA) and runs 31 hospitals and over 700 health care centers. Similarly, the <\/span>Jordanian Royal Medical Services<\/span><\/a> (RMS) offers health care to military personnel, retirees, and their families, managing a financial institution, the <\/span>Military Insurance Fund<\/span><\/a> (MIF), and running 17 hospitals. Both the MOH and RMS are mostly funded by the government.
