Saint Kitts and Nevis is composed of two islands in the Caribbean. Once a colony of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, full independence was gained in 1983. In the late 1960s, inclusive education, health and social security systems were established. The St. Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis Social Security Fund<\/a> is a compulsory insurance fund established by an act of parliament in 1977.
