Causing the most death and disability in Tuvalu are ischemic heart diseases, diabetes and stroke. Childhood malnutrition is a significant risk factor for developing NCDs as an adult. Malnutrition for children aged 2 years and under is a significant problem in Tuvalu, with 46.5% classified as obese and 17% as having mild to severe undernutrition. Tuvalu continues to grapple with a growing burden of NCDs while also facing challenges with tuberculosis and with reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health (RMNCH) and nutrition.[\/et_pb_text][ba_gradient_heading title=”High commitment of government to funding health needs” html_tag=”h3″ primary_color=”#455A64″ secondary_color=”#455A64″ admin_label=” HEADING (50-60 characters)” _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” title_font=”||||||||” title_font_size=”26px” title_line_height=”1em” custom_padding=”||10px||false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″][\/ba_gradient_heading][et_pb_text admin_label=”TEXT – BLOCK 3″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||1em||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n
Total health expenditure as a share of GDP is 24% with per capita health expenditure of US$\u00a0973 in constant 2019 US dollars.
