UHC is embedded within the 3.8 target of sustainable development goals. To attain the UHC goal, there is need for effective strategies for healthcare financing, however, it remains a challenge in SSA. In this systematic review, the authors\u2019 aim was to determine reported health financing mechanisms in SSA within the published literature and summarize potential learnings. The results indicate that a majority of health care revenue in SSA is from direct out-of-pocket payments.
