Although this is the case, the majority of the informal economy is not covered by the social protection. The present study aims to analyse how social protection could be extended to workers in the informal economy, by overcoming existing supply and demand-side challenges. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the existing social protection schemes, their design and their delivery mechanisms.
