\nIn C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, Couverture Maladie Universelle (CMU) was instituted by Law n\u00b02014-131 of March 24, 2014, in response to the commitment made by the President of the Republic in 2011 to improve people’s financial access to healthcare. CMU is a compulsory national health insurance scheme financed by a flat-rate contribution of 1,000 FCFA per month per person. The CMU aims to guarantee access to quality healthcare for the entire population residing in C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, under sustainable financial conditions.
\nCMU comprises two schemes:
\n– A contributory scheme, known as the R\u00e9gime G\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Base (RGB), financed by contributions from insured persons and covering the majority of the population resident in C\u00f4te d’Ivoire;
