The results indicate that from 2009 to 2017, Cambodia made substantial improvements in financial protection. However, the trend has reversed during 2017 to 2019, with an increase in the incidence of catastrophic and impoverishing spending. This suggests that existing social health protection schemes have not substantially altered levels of out-of-pocket expenditures and the related financial protection indicators, highlighting the need for reform aimed at reducing out-of-pocket expenditure.<\/p>\n
