Seguro Popular came into effect in 2004 as a mechanism for implementing the Social Health Protection System (SPSS).
\nIt was a public health insurance scheme through voluntary affiliation, aimed at the population that was not affiliated to social security through an employment relationship.
\nIt was created with the objective of reducing household health expenses.
\nIt was financed with contributions from the federal government, the federal entities and contributions from affiliates according to their economic capacity. <\/p>\n

The Seguro M\u00e9dico Siglo XXI began operating in 2007.
\nIts objective was to finance, through a public universal health insurance scheme, the care of children under five years of age incorporated into the SPSS. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
