This report provides the overview of Australia’s health expenditure 2021\u20132022. It was the third year (and the second full year) of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. During 2021-2022, governments funded around 72.9% of total health spending. In addition, the ratio of government health spending to total government expenditures across all portfolios increased by 1.8 percentage points (from 15.5% in 2020\u20132021 to 17.2% in 2021\u20132022). This indicates that government health spending increased more significantly than other areas of government expenditures. The greatest increases in recurrent spending were for primary health care and hospitals. This growth associated with COVID-19 related spending (e.g., COVID-19 vaccines, diagnosis)<\/p>\n
