This study aims to gain insights into the socio-economic and political determinants of ill health and access to healthcare in North Korea. Findings indicate that, despite the Public Health Act\u2019s claims of a comprehensive free care system, respondents reported high levels of unmet healthcare needs and widespread informal payments among those who did access care. These findings suggest significant disparities in health and healthcare access in North Korea, driven by political and economic inequalities.<\/p>\n
