This paper, published by the World Health Organization in 2010, provides an analysis of the Nicaraguan health financing system.\u00a0 Country performance was assessed using selected health financing performance indicators. The analysis revealed health financing system challenges including resource mobilization and inefficient purchasing mechanisms which contributed to poor health financing performance. This paper proposes a number of institutional and organizational changes to move towards universal coverage in Nicaragua.<\/p>\n
