Households caring for differently abled children often face unique financial and social challenges, with healthcare costs being one of the most significant burdens. The study Catastrophic health expenditure among households with differently abled children and adolescents in Puducherry, India<\/em> investigates the extent of this financial strain, examining both quantitative data on health spending and qualitative insights from families. By adopting a mixed-methods approach, the research highlights the prevalence of catastrophic health expenditure (CHE), distress financing practices, and barriers to accessing timely and affordable healthcare.<\/p>\n Findings reveal that nearly half of the surveyed households experience CHE, with many resorting to borrowing, asset sales, or other coping mechanisms. Barriers such as high medical expenses, poor accessibility, and lack of continuity in care further compound the problem. At the same time, facilitators like social support networks and specialised services offer some relief.
