Social security costs accounted for one-third of government expenditures.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>The health ministry requested a record 33.945 trillion yen for the next fiscal year, 807 billion yen more than its initial request made last year for fiscal 2021. Another 660 billion yen of the&nbsp;social securiy expenditure&nbsp;has been added because&nbsp;the older baby boomers have entered&nbsp;the mid-70s. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>In addition, there is the possibility to request more funds allocating to medical centers, COVID-19 testing, and national vaccination program based on the pandemic situation.
