{"id":987524865,"date":"2020-06-11T03:39:57","date_gmt":"2020-06-11T02:39:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/p4h.world\/news\/pfm-covid-19-18-05-2020-zambia\/"},"modified":"2023-03-02T10:45:09","modified_gmt":"2023-03-02T09:45:09","slug":"pfm-covid-19-18-05-2020-zambia","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/p4h.world\/en\/news\/pfm-covid-19-18-05-2020-zambia\/","title":{"rendered":"PFM-COVID-19 -18\/05\/2020 \/ Zambia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Zambian government has announced a release of 2.64 billion-kwacha (0.75 percent of GDP) to clear arrears and pay contractors.<\/p>\n<p>The government had set up an Epidemic Preparedness Fund amounting to 57 million kwacha (0.02% of GDP) and had approved&nbsp;a COVID-19 Contingency and Response Plan with a budget of 659 million kwacha (0.2% of GDP).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, 400 doctors and 3000 paramedics were recruited to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.(1)<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet approved a COVID-19 Contingency and Response Plan with a budget of K659 million under the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit;&nbsp;and the Government has started mobilizing funds through the budget and engagement with various local and international stakeholders.
