on August 13th the governing board of National Health Authority (NHA), chaired by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, approved the proposal to integrate existing health schemes of the central ministries with the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) for employees. <\/p>\n
The integration of the central ministry schemes and AB-PMJAY has the purpose to “promote the development in the supply side and enhance the demand creation of the services of the health care”. Further it aims at integrating existing schemes with the AB-PMJAY to the benefit of government and contractual employees and beneficiary groups like, building and construction workers, manual scavengers, road accident victims and Central Armed Police Force <\/strong>staff. Decreasing fragmentation and enhancing digital and data interoperability among schemes.<\/p>\n AB-PMJAY currently provides insurance cover for secondary and tertiary care services of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year, to around 100 million poor and vulnerable people with the target to reach 500 million.<\/p>\n The Governing board of NHA further approved the development and implementation of health insurance pilots which will explore best coverage of “the middle”- workers in the informal economy, self-employed, professional and MSME employees with an ability to contribute.<\/p>\n
