{"id":987525445,"date":"2016-10-07T03:47:42","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T02:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/p4h.world\/news\/p4h-mission-to-kenya-october-2016\/"},"modified":"2023-03-02T11:06:17","modified_gmt":"2023-03-02T10:06:17","slug":"p4h-mission-to-kenya-october-2016","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/p4h.world\/en\/news\/p4h-mission-to-kenya-october-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"P4H Mission to Kenya &#8211; October 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span>Development partners engaged in supporting, monitoring, and advocating for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) show strong interest in exchanging on the UHC agenda.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span>And on effective collaboration on finalizing and implementing the Kenyan health financing strategy. <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span>P4H+ partners (GIZ, KfW, USAID, WB, WHO and JICA) in Kenya are key to this process.<\/span><\/span> <span lang=\"EN-US\"><span>P4H has offered to facilitate a half-day meeting among key health financing partners to jointly explore the possibilities to further accelerate the UHC agenda in Kenya by best capitalizing on the available network experiences and capacities.<\/span><\/span> <span lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span>The main objective of the meeting was to obtain feedback&nbsp;from <strong>P4H+ partners<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span> in Kenya&nbsp;on the status quo of the health financing strategy (HFS) development, strengths and weaknesses of ongoing process and on potential support needs to advance the UHC agenda by 2030. The meeting aimed to build&nbsp;consensus&nbsp;on the role, desired level and intensity of P4H support.<\/span><\/span> <span lang=\"EN-US\"><span>Specific objectives of the meeting:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>P<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">rovide an overview of P4H in the context of UHC 2030 and examples of P4H networking in other countries \u2013 especially Tanzania, Cambodia, West Africa (as regional model) including the role of P4H Country Focal Person (CFP) function and P4H sample TOR for networking and collaboration;<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Jointly define support needs for Kenya <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Satus of the Kenyan health financing strategy&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Brief recap of P4H work to date in Kenya as well as Global Financing Facility (GFF) support <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">What coordination needs do P4H+ Partner\u2019s see in relation to pushing the UHC agenda? <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Jointly conclude on the added value of P4H support to Kenya \u2013 how can it be deepened?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Identify and build consensus on the key functions of networking and collaboration (incl. integration of GFF and other vertical funding mechanisms); <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Clarify the role of P4H in the context of IHP+ for UHC, and discuss the role of a P4H CFP (options: continue backstopping as before, intensified backstopping on specifically identified areas\/ with clear roadmap, in country presence of P4H CFP, EAC level P4H presence); <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Discuss the role of the P4H Leadership for UHC program to tackle political economy issues of UHC.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>&nbsp;<span lang=\"EN-US\"><span><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2016_10_31_P4H_Kenya_Mission.doc\">2016_10_31_P4H_Kenya_Mission<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Development partners engaged in supporting, monitoring, and advocating for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) show strong interest in exchanging on the UHC agenda.
