The Nairobi county plans to launch a health insurance scheme for underprivileged households in the city, starting with 232,000 households. This initiative aims to provide access to healthcare for vulnerable residents and will be implemented in partnerships with the National Health Insurance Fund. The insurance cover will cater to inpatient, outpatient, dental, optical, and funeral expenses. The program was inspired by the success of Murang\u2019a County\u2019s Kang\u2019ata Care program<\/a>, which covers 20,000 vulnerable households with similar coverage. As the Kenyan government plans to implement universal health coverage, county governments are also establishing their health coverage.
