After several reviews, the draft bill instituting the measure was adopted by the Council of Ministers on Thursday September 09.<\/p>\n<p>This draft bill sets out the legal framework required to implement the project, the foundations of which were laid a few months ago.<\/p>\n<p>Back in June,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/p4h.world\/en\/news\/togo-tenue-de-la-1ere-reunion-du-comite-de-pilotage-du-projet-couverture-sanitaire\">the head of government, Victoire Tomegah-Dogb\u00e9, announced the creation of a coordination committee to oversee the project&#8217;s implementation<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition, ahead of the text due to be examined by Parliament in the coming months, the project obtained<a href=\"https:\/\/www.togofirst.com\/fr\/gouvernance-economique\/1203-7470-au-togo-la-banque-mondiale-va-debloquer-70-millions-pour-la-couverture-sante-universelle\">financial support from the World Bank<\/a> in March&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.togofirst.com\/fr\/gouvernance-economique\/1203-7470-au-togo-la-banque-mondiale-va-debloquer-70-millions-pour-la-couverture-sante-universelle\">for $70 million&nbsp;(38.5 billion FCFA<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.togofirst.com\/fr\/gestion-publique\/1009-8459-le-gouvernement-adopte-l-avant-projet-de-loi-instituant-lassurance-maladie-universelle\">Read more.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Togo, the government is taking a decisive step towards making universal health insurance a reality.
