To inform the Malian press about the reform of the Universal Health Insurance scheme (Ramu) and the problem of fraud in the Compulsory Health Insurance scheme (Amo), the Information, Communication and Advocacy initiative\u00a0sur la protection sociale au Mali (ICP-Mali), in partnership with the Caisse nationale d’assurance maladie CANAM, organized a day of exchanges at the Maison du partenariat, this\u00a0Thursday, September 9.<\/p>\n

According to CANAM’s technical advisor, the law establishing the insurance scheme provides for sanctions that may be civil, criminal, conventional or even ordinal. Mentioned in articles 60 and 61,\u00a0the perpetrator of\u00a0the fraud may be punished by a fine of\u00a065\u00a0000 to 325\u00a0000 F CFA<\/strong>\u00a0and repayment of sums wrongly received under the AMO.<\/p>\n Healthcare providers guilty of fraud or misrepresentation are liable to fines ranging from\u00a0130\u00a0000 to 650\u00a0000 F CFA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Workshop participants are expected to act as ambassadors for the fight against compulsory health insurance fraud, and for the gradual introduction of a universal health insurance scheme.<\/p>\n
