It was presented just in time as the country hosted a <strong>national policy dialogue<\/strong> in Tashkent on 15 September 2023 with over 100 participants representing government institutions, regional authorities and development partners.<\/p>\n<p>The report illustrates <strong>key achievements<\/strong> to date, which include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the establishment of a state health insurance fund as a single purchasing agency contracting health facilities and pharmacies;<\/li>\n<li>better organized primary health care (PHC) services in the Syrdarya region;<\/li>\n<li>new provider payments and contracts with health facilities; and<\/li>\n<li>advanced electronic health (e-health) information systems used by pharmacies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/europe\/news\/item\/21-09-2023-uzbekistan-s-progress-in-reforming-its-health-system-continues--new-who-report-shows\">According to WHO-Europe,<\/a> &#8220;through its Universal Health Coverage Partnership, WHO supported the development of the legal foundation for the reforms, including a presidential resolution establishing mandatory health insurance&#8230; These developments have laid a robust foundation for future changes and have increased capacity to develop a more efficient and responsive national health system.&#8221; After piloting the reforms in Syrdarya region, where the mandatory social health insurance was first introduced, Uzbekistan&#8217;s government plans to expand the reforms to the city of Tashkent and the region of Karakalpakstan.
