As part of its ongoing commitment to the effective implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Chad, the P4H partner network held two crucial meetings on February 16 and March 11, 2024. <\/strong><\/p>\n

These meetings brought together key international and local players, including Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD), the World Bank (WB), Swiss Cooperation, the Global Financing Facility (GFF), the World Health Organization (WHO), GIZ, and Expertise France, marking a shared determination to support Chad<\/a> in its efforts towards universal healthcare.<\/p>\n

The February meeting, chaired by Mr. Kofi Amponsah of the World Bank, provided an opportunity to discuss strategies for deploying the CSU, emphasizing the need to start the process in seven pilot districts, with the poor as the main target.
\nThe importance of rapid action to avoid the high costs associated with limited deployment was unanimously recognized.
\nThe institutions reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the CSU, with discussions focusing on the evaluation of government structures and the mobilization of additional resources. <\/p>\n

The second meeting, organized by Saibou Seynou PFP-P4H<\/a>, focused on following up on previous recommendations, reviewing the five-year plan for the CSU, and coordinating support.
\nA notable point was the evaluation of the capacities of the CNAS (Caisse nationale d’assurance sant\u00e9) and the ANAR (Agence nationale de r\u00e9gulation) for the CSU, revealing significant capacity-building needs for the effective implementation of the CSU. <\/p>\n

At the heart of the discussions was the need for a firm commitment from the Chadian government, as well as the importance of effective coordination between partners to ensure harmonized support for the CSU process.
\nParticipants agreed on the importance of regular meetings to ensure effective follow-up, and established a calendar of future meetings, stressing the importance of inviting CSU implementing partners. <\/p>\n
