The emissary of the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage (CMU) insisted on free malaria diagnosis through the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) and Thick Gout examinations. On the other hand, it has specified that medical consultations are not free of charge. The coordinating director of the National Malaria Control Program<\/a> (PNLP), Dr Antoine M\u00e9a Tanoh, assures us that no matter where a person lives in C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, they can be treated if they contract malaria.<\/p>\n

In the private sector, this takes the form of free distribution of sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (SP) and long-acting insecticide-impregnated mosquito nets (LLINs), as well as the provision of diagnostic and treatment services to patients on a fee-paying basis. At community level, more than 15,000 community health workers (CHWs) are currently involved in caring for children living in villages located more than 5 km from a health center.<\/p>\n
