At present, Comorians can consult a general practitioner free of charge in the public sector, or pay 10 euros for a consultation with a private doctor; but when it comes to taking medication or undergoing surgery, nothing is free. Appendicitis surgery, for example, costs at least 200 euros. A Caesarean delivery can cost up to 600 euros. <\/p>\nThe government of the Comoros intends to introduce health insurance by 2030. According to the government, the first test phase is about to begin, and 52,000 households have already been identified. Enrolment has begun and they will soon receive their health insurance cards. In recent months, awareness campaigns have been organized to explain the concept of generalized health insurance: reimbursement of medical expenses in exchange for a contribution based on income.
