Uzbekistan is gradually introducing state health insurance under a September 5, 2024 presidential decree. Implementation begins October 1 in Tashkent and Syrdarya, expanding to Karakalpakstan by January 1, 2025. According to the resolution<\/a>, state medical insurance mechanisms will be introduced in Tashkent city and Syrdarya region from October 1, 2024, with expansion to the Republic of Karakalpakstan from January 1, 2025. These changes mark a major transformation in the country\u2019s healthcare system, improving medical service quality and accessibility.<\/p>\n

As part of this initiative, Uzbekistan will launch the “Electronic Health” information system, integrating state medical databases to enhance communication between medical organizations and government bodies. Additionally, by the end of the year, the “Electronic Polyclinic” and “Electronic Hospital” systems will be operational, ensuring seamless cooperation among healthcare institutions and streamlined patient data management.<\/p>\n

A high-level meeting<\/strong> at the Ministry of Health<\/strong> critically reviewed the progress of digital healthcare transformation<\/strong>. Chaired by Eldor Odilov, Director of the Project Office of the Center for Health Projects<\/strong>, the session included Deputy Ministers of Health Olim Omonov and Farrukh Sharipov<\/strong>, as well as regional health officials, IT specialists, and UZINFOCOM representatives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, officials emphasized the importance of equipping medical institutions with local area networks, computer technologies, software solutions, and essential infrastructure. Ensuring that healthcare workers can seamlessly adopt digital systems without additional burdens is a key priority.<\/p>\n

The implementation status of ICT infrastructure in Karakalpakstan, Tashkent, and Syrdarya was assessed, with concerns raised about delays in the Syrdarya region. Officials issued instructions for accelerating progress and ensuring the timely completion of digitalization efforts.<\/p>\n
