President John Dramani Mahama has launched the Ghana Medical Trust Fund<\/strong>, also known as MahamaCares<\/a>, a pioneering initiative to support individuals living with chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, stroke, cardiovascular disease, and kidney failure. The Fund will provide financial assistance for treatments and medications not currently covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), aiming to close critical healthcare gaps for those most in need.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch event, President Mahama described the Fund as a crucial step toward building a more inclusive and resilient health system, underscoring the importance of equitable access to essential care regardless of income or location. In addition to patient support, the Fund will invest in medical infrastructure, equipment, specialist training, and research. Health Minister<\/a> Kwabena Mintah Akandoh called the initiative a bold and compassionate move, urging full support from health agencies and partners for its successful implementation.<\/p>\n
