Since its founding in 2007, the P4H Network has maintained an active presence in countries throughout Africa. Across the continent, there is a commitment to universal health coverage in the region marked by both resource limitations and overwhelming constraints to accessing essential health care by the vast majority of people.<\/p>\n

[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”TEXT – BLOCK 2 ” _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||1em||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]The transition from the Millennium Development Goals to the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 reflected the international community\u2019s recognition of the universality of global health juxtaposed with the imperative of a local lens at the country level. [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”TEXT – BLOCK 3″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||1em||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n

Focusing on national health systems and country leadership, P4H deployed its first ever country focal person (P4H-CFP)<\/a> to Tanzania in 2011. About half of the P4H-CFPs in P4H\u2019s history have been in Africa, with one-third in francophone Africa alone. The number of P4H-CFPs deployed or appointed in Africa highlights both the importance of the Africa region to the P4H Network as well as its emphasis on country led leadership.<\/p>\n

The P4H Network members continue to advance collaborations and synergies in their technical assistance, financial support and capacity-building activities throughout Africa.<\/p>\n

The P4H Network collaborations in Africa are some of the oldest collaborations in our history. Beginning with the very first P4H-CFP deployed in the United Republic of Tanzania<\/a> by the Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), P4H has continued to engage in collaborations with P4H-CFPs and P4H regional focal persons highly engaged in Benin<\/a>, Burkina Faso<\/a>,\u00a0Burundi<\/a>, Cameroon<\/a>,\u00a0Chad<\/a>,\u00a0C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire<\/a>,\u00a0Democratic Republic of the Congo<\/a>, Ethiopia,<\/a> Kenya,<\/a> Madagascar<\/a>, Mali<\/a>, Malawi<\/a>, Mozambique<\/a>, Namibia<\/a>, Niger<\/a>, Senegal, Sierra Leone<\/a>, United Republic of Tanzania<\/a>\u00a0and Zambia<\/a>.<\/p>\n
