Se han intensificado los llamamientos para dejar de utilizar el Producto Interior Bruto (PIB) y su derivado, la Renta Nacional Bruta (RNB). Estos indicadores, dise\u00f1ados originalmente para medir el crecimiento econ\u00f3mico, se utilizan ahora como indicadores indirectos del bienestar general de una naci\u00f3n y de su elegibilidad para recibir financiaci\u00f3n externa. Sin embargo, priorizan sistem\u00e1ticamente el crecimiento econ\u00f3mico sobre la salud de la poblaci\u00f3n. Los principales organismos de financiaci\u00f3n sanitaria siguen bas\u00e1ndose en el PIB y la RNB a pesar de sus limitaciones. Estos criterios enmascaran las desigualdades dentro de los pa\u00edses y entre ellos, excluyendo a una parte importante de las personas con mala salud que viven por debajo del umbral de pobreza.
