El art\u00edculo “Future Health Expenditures and Its Determinants in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Multi-Country Projection Study”, publicado en The Lancet Regional Health, explora la trayectoria futura del gasto sanitario en la regi\u00f3n de ALC en medio de importantes cambios demogr\u00e1ficos, epidemiol\u00f3gicos, econ\u00f3micos y pol\u00edticos. Utilizando un modelo estad\u00edstico, el estudio prev\u00e9 los gastos sanitarios corrientes (GCS) desde una base de referencia 2018\/19 hasta 2050, revelando un aumento medio per c\u00e1pita de 2,75 veces en toda la regi\u00f3n. Aunque se espera que todos los pa\u00edses latinoamericanos dupliquen su CHE per c\u00e1pita, el Caribe muestra m\u00e1s variabilidad. Entre los principales motores del crecimiento del gasto est\u00e1n el crecimiento econ\u00f3mico y los avances tecnol\u00f3gicos, con aumentos significativos de los costes asociados a neoplasias, afecciones circulatorias y genitourinarias, sobre todo entre la poblaci\u00f3n de m\u00e1s edad.
