In fiscal year 2024, Japan medical fees are set to decrease by 0.12%, marking the fifth consecutive reduction in the fees, which are reviewed biennially.
The adjustment affects official prices for medical services paid to hospitals and drugstores under the public health care system and will be incorporated into the government’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year starting in April 2024.
Notably, the government plans to increase the core part, covering personnel costs, by 0.88%, while reducing medicine prices by 1%, resulting in an overall 0.12% decrease.
Additionally, official fees for nursing and disability welfare services will increase by 1.59% and 1.12%, respectively, in response to rising prices and wage hikes.
