This study analyses the cost of increasing health insurance coverage to vulnerable Jordanians (for Jordan’s public health exchequer). It estimates the percentage of Jordan’s population that is not insured and thus does not access as many services as those insured by the Civil Insurance Programme (4.9%).
Achieving universal health coverage is a strategic goal for the Government of Jordan. Expanding coverage might require additional resources for the Ministry of Finance to maintain and improve service capacity and quality. It may also improve the efficiency of the health system and reduce overall health expenditure at the national level.
