The effective allocation and execution of health budgets are central to ensuring that health systems operate efficiently, equitably, and sustainably. The World Bank’s latest publication, Budget Execution in Health: From Bottlenecks to Solutions – Case Study Series, explores common challenges and opportunities in health budget execution across DRC, Ethiopia, Lao PDR, Pakistan and the Solomon Islands. By examining real-world examples, the series highlights how efficient budget execution directly impacts the delivery of essential health services and progress toward universal health coverage (UHC).
Notably, Aminata TOU Nana, P4H Country Focal Person for Cameroon, co-authored the case study on the Democratic Republic of Congo, providing critical insights into country-specific experiences and lessons learned. This collection serves as a practical resource for policymakers, health managers, and financial officers seeking to strengthen budget planning, implementation, and oversight in the health sector.
A webinar discussing the findings will take place on 4 September, offering stakeholders an opportunity to engage directly with the authors. Registration is open to all.
