The Health Taxonomy Report: The Need for a Common Investment Toolkit, published by The G20 & G7 Health and Development Partnership and its collaborators, marks a significant step in advancing health financing. Building on the momentum of the 2025 World Health Assembly resolution on health financing, the report introduces an innovative framework to align public and private sector investments toward health-positive outcomes. By proposing a common language and a voluntary investment framework, the report addresses a key gap in health financing—creating a structured approach for governments, investors, and companies to integrate health into economic, financial, and policy strategies.
The report highlights the post-pandemic surge in private health investments, yet underscores the persistent disconnect between the health and finance sectors. Drawing from stakeholder interviews and G20 dialogues, it calls for a joint definition of sustainable finance for health and the development of a health taxonomy. Such a tool is proposed to guide strategic investments, support debt sustainability, and embed health as a pillar of financial and economic resilience.
