“In January 2016, the Government of Burundi enacted its National Health Strategy 2016-2025, reinforcing its commitments to improve health indicators and to work towards the common goals outlined in the Sustainable Development Agenda. As part of the strategy, the necessity to ensure adequate health financing is addressed with the aim of reinforcing the resilience of the health sector, which has been recognized as being considerably aid dependent.1 The Government commits to strengthen its national and international mobilization of resources for the sector to ensure access to health services to the population – most notably the most vulnerable.”  – UNICEF Budget Brief
