Urgent need to invest in health systems in Latin America and the Caribbean to reduce inequality and achieve Sustainable Development Goals

It is emphasized that structural transformations of development models and a joint effort of the countries are needed to correct the course deviated by the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerate progress towards the achievement of the Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As part of the transformation of health systems to achieve such inclusive and sustainable recovery, both ECLAC and PAHO recognize the relevance of the primary health care strategy, including its components: integrated services and essential public health functions, multisectoral action and social participation.
