The government of Botswana began developing the national healthy ageing strategic programme in 2019. The strategy’s goal is to ensure comprehensive public-health response to meet the needs of older population in line with universal health coverage (UHC). Given that reaching UHC entails that all people irrespective of their socio-demographic characteristics have equal access to quality and affordable care, this is a positive step for Botswana.
