The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the State Health Insurance Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan successfully conducted two four-day training sessions for a total of 16 financial staff from healthcare facilities in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (RK). The first session took place in Tashkent on November 18-22, followed by the second session in Nukus, RK, on November 25-28, with the participation of nine international and national experts.
This initiative aligns with the goals outlined in Presidential Resolution No. PP-311 (dated September 5, 2024), which focuses on implementing state health insurance mechanisms in Uzbekistan. The training provided an in-depth exploration of the policy, regulatory, and legislative frameworks underpinning health insurance. Participants also gained practical knowledge of new healthcare financing mechanisms and developing business plans for healthcare facilities.
As Karakalpakstan prepares to transition to health insurance-based financing starting January 1, 2025, these participants will play a pivotal role. They are expected to train financial staff from district and city healthcare facilities across the region, ensuring a smooth roll-out of the new system. GIZ and SHIF will continue to support this process by supervising and monitoring the training sessions.
