Co-financing mandatory health insurance in Azerbaijan postponed for another year

The introduction of co-financing within the mandatory health insurance in Azerbaijan has been postponed for another year, Report news agency informs.

Originally, it was planned to introduce co-financing starting from January 1, 2022.

Examples when co-payments will be applied starting from January 1, 2023, include situations when patients will seek medical services under mandatory health insurance at public health care provider organizations outside the territory where patient is eligible to receive free medical care and when bypassing primary health care provider. Services for which the insured will pay co-payments include outpatient, laboratory, and diagnostic medical services.

To make this happen, it is proposed to amend the law on Health Insurance. The draft amendments to the law were put to the vote and adopted in the first reading of the Parliament.
