Consultation for International dialogue on sustainable financing for NCDs and mental health begins

WHO and the World Bank are collaborating to organise the second International dialogue on sustainable financing for NCDs and mental health on 20–21 June 2024. To prepare for this, they are taking feedback through a consultation period from 1 May to 26 May 2024.

To prepare for the International dialogue on sustainable financing for NCDs and mental health, WHO and the World Bank have launched a web-based consultation process. The goal is to gather feedback from Member States, UN organizations, and non-State actors, including individuals with lived experience of NCDs and mental health conditions. This consultation seeks input on the draft technical background papers covering topics such as health spending on NCDs and mental health, external and domestic financing, financial protection, human resources for health, and the role of civil society.

The consultation also involves a summary paper and emerging messages that will inform the outcome document of the International Dialogue. This document may guide discussions during the Fourth High-level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on NCDs in 2025. Stakeholders can submit feedback through a template available online, with a consultation period from 1 May to 26 May 2024. All contributions will be published online.

In addition to this consultation, another web-based process is underway to gather insights on thematic priorities for the WHO Director-General’s report to the World Health Assembly 2025, which will support the upcoming UN high-level meeting. More details can be found on the WHO website.
