The French Development Innovation Fund (FID) has awarded FCFA 149,171,776 million to Bluemind Foundation’s “Heal by Hair” program to help improve the mental health and well-being of African women. The program aims to train 200 hairdresser ambassadors for the “Heal by Hair” program, as well as raising awareness among some 72,000 African women each year.
Through a three-day training course on the basic principles of active listening and women’s mental health, it will help identify people in psychological distress, listen to them without judgment and help them become aware of their need for support.
The aim of the training is to make professional hairdressers the first link in the mental health care chain in Africa.
