The Association des Sociétés d’Assurances de Côte d’Ivoire (ASA-CI) is organizing a conference on health insurance from November 16 to 19. These The symposium will focus on issues relating to third-party payment, with a view to ensuring the development of health insurance and its long-term profitability for all stakeholders in the ecosystem.
According to Mamadou Koné, President of the Association des Sociétés des Assurances de Côte d’Ivoire, health insurance contracts in Côte d’Ivoire have suffered a structural deficit of around 43 billion CFA francs over the past 11 years.
In his view, the aim of the Etats Généraux de l’Assurance Maladie in Côte d’Ivoire is to draw up a national roadmap for the harmonious development of the sector.
“Several studies in recent years have shown that health insurance contracts are in deficit; the contracts are characterized by a structural deficit of around 43 billion Fcfa over the last 11 years”.
As a result, he says, health insurance is the subject of many questions, concerning both its long-term equilibrium and its capacity to extend to the vast majority of the Ivorian population.
Today, some public or private hospitals that have provided care to insured persons under the tiers payants scheme are experiencing difficulties in obtaining reimbursement. In fact, one of the objectives of this event is to find health insurance products that are accessible to all, at lower cost.
