This new contracting model will improve efficiency, transparency and the supply of medicines and supplies needed in the health sector.
The President of the Republic emphasized that the New Model of Consolidated Procurement of Medicines and Medical Supplies in Mexico aims to make the purchasing process more efficient and transparent, and to guarantee the supply of medicines and materials required.
A total of $130 billion Mexican pesos (approximately $6.3 billion US dollars) will be allocated and 26 public health institutions will participate in this purchasing mechanism in the period 2025-2026. During the previous government administration, prices for the purchase of medicines had already been reduced, and with this new contracting model, even better prices are expected to be achieved.
