Nigeria: National health insurance scheme (NHIS) plans expanded coverage of Nigerians by 2030

In order to expand coverage of the vulnerable and non-vulnerable population in the informal sector as well as formal sector by 2030, the NHIS is set to deploy technology to drive key initiatives, aimed at ensuring a systematic expanded coverage. General Manager, NHIS Zonal Office Department, Hajia Asmau Mohammed, explained that there was an urgent need to cover indigent Nigerians across the country, with the sole purpose of delivering a comprehensive and affordable healthcare service to them. Towards this end, she said the scheme has adopted a 10-year strategic plan to accelerate the drive towards achieving Universal Health Coverage for all Nigerians.
