Oman’s Ministry of Health (MOH) conducted a three-day workshop titled ‘’Toward Excellence and Innovation in Financial Management’’ to discuss scientific methods for increasing the MOH fiscal space. Oman aims to get a high return on investing in people’s health by “combining innovative reforms aimed at improving cost efficiency and reconciling fiscal consolidation targets with the continued provision of sufficient levels of public services”.
The workshop stressed the need to come up with budget-promoting solutions and initiatives for the MOH through the optimal use of available resources to achieve universal health coverage in Oman.
The importance of this workshop stems from the importance of investing in health. Investment in health will help the Sultanate to rise to the challenges defined in its health strategies that had been aggravated by the economic crisis which are population aging, an increase in chronic diseases, increased demand for health care, and the high cost of technological progress.
