The Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) is the National Reference Centre for Tropical Pathogens, a WHO Collaborating Centre and a member of the Leibniz Research Association. It is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) to join the Health Economics Research Group, led by Dr Jan Priebe, within the Department of Implementation Science in Hamburg. The position starts on 1st November 2024 and is full-time for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of extension.
The Health Economics Research Group focuses on global health challenges, especially in tropical countries, with key areas including the evaluation of health interventions, improving healthcare access for vulnerable populations, and analyzing the cost-effectiveness of public health services. The role will primarily involve research on infection control and emerging infections.
Candidates should hold or be close to completing a PhD in economics or a related field (such as geography, psychology, or statistics) and have experience in empirical health economics. Knowledge of quantitative data analysis using R or Stata is essential, and prior experience in primary data collection is a plus. The role also involves supervising PhD students, coordinating research projects, and contributing to third-party funding applications.
