Results for Development (R4D) has introduced the Finance Capacity Development Platform (FCDP) for Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN), in collaboration with Spark Health Africa, the Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation, and the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP). This platform is designed to support sustainable nutrition financing for 66 SUN countries, empowering national leaders to enhance and prioritise funding for nutrition initiatives essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The FCDP provides government stakeholders with tailored tools, resources, and expert guidance, enabling them to establish frameworks that maximise local financing for nutrition. It also builds on lessons learned across SUN countries and from key partners like the World Bank, USAID, and the Gates Foundation, creating a robust network of technical experts to foster continuous learning and collaboration.
In a context of plateaued donor funding and rising climate-related malnutrition challenges, the FCDP aims to strengthen the continuity and local ownership of critical nutrition programs, strategically align funding with country needs, and enhance cross-sector policies for food and nutrition security. Albertha Nyaku, R4D’s Nutrition Senior Program Director, highlighted the platform’s timely arrival to meet countries’ high demand for technical support in sustainable nutrition financing.
