A workshop on social protection and health insurance brought together workers from the public and private sectors on Saturday November 16, 2024 in Soubré, under the initiative of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung foundation aimed at enhancing their knowledge of these social security mechanisms in Côte d’Ivoire.
“Social protection is a pillar of social cohesion when it is effective and inclusive. It aims to protect individuals and families against various risks, including the inability to meet their basic needs”.
It was with this assertion that the working session attended by several workers from Soubré, a locality in south-west Côte d’Ivoire, got underway. The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, which initiated the workshop, emphasized the compulsory nature of universal health coverage, through the voice of its political advisor.
Séraphin Kouamé explained that this mechanism, which is based on the principle of national solidarity, guarantees equal access to healthcare for all, regardless of age, gender, religion or location. The two-day working session raised awareness among Soubré workers of the importance of these schemes, while encouraging them to play an active role in their implementation.
