Tajikistan – Germany financial cooperation agreement funds construction of hospitals

A new tuberculosis (TB) hospital worth 11 million euros will be built in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan, the city of Kulyab, the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan reports.

The construction of a hospital in Kulyab is envisaged under the Agreement between Tajikistan and Germany on financial cooperation. It was signed in 2020 to finance the TB Control Program Phase VI project. It is planned to allocate 12.5 million euros for this project, of which 1.5 million euros will go to equip the children’s tuberculosis hospital in Machiton Vahdat, and the rest of the money will go to the hospital in Kulyab.

In addition, the Ministry of Economy noted that an additional agreement was signed on providing a grant for the project with the German Development Bank and Pamir Energy for 17.4 million euros. The funds will be directed to the construction of the Sebzor hydroelectric power station in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
