Myanmar aspires to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as part of its Vision 2030 for a healthier and more productive population.

Building on three consultations on UHC already held by the Ministry of Health (July and November 2012 and September, 2013), a fourth consultation on the forumulation of a road map and implementation plan was conducted on November 25th and 26th, 2013 in Nay Pyi Taw.  Organized by the Ministry of Health, with joint sponsorship by the World Health Organization and the World Bank, the consultation included officials from relevant departments of the Ministry of Health, non-health sector ministries, such as the Ministries of Finance, Defense, Planning and Economic Development, and Social Security Board, and a select group of partner agencies — bilateral agencies and NGOs.
