WHO has introduced the PHC-GHI Toolbox 2.0, a resource aimed at aligning Global Health Initiatives (GHI) funding with national health strategies and primary health care principles to improve health system coordination and maximize the impact of investments.
The WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care has introduced the Primary Health Care for Global Health Initiatives (PHC-GHI) Toolbox 2.0, a resource aimed at aligning Global Health Initiatives (GHI) funding with national health strategies and primary health care (PHC) principles. This updated toolbox addresses fragmentation in health systems and optimizes investment use to better support national priorities.
Developed through a consultative process and piloted in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, the PHC-GHI Toolbox 2.0 provides practical guidance, consolidates resources, and showcases real-life examples. Its key features focus on improving the planning, implementation, and monitoring of GHI-funded activities while promoting universal health coverage (UHC).
The PHC-GHI Toolbox is expected to strengthen health systems globally, ensuring that GHI funding supports sustainable, PHC-centered healthcare reforms.
