This study assesses the impact of social health insurance schemes on accessibility and financial catastrophe against catastrophic health expenditures for older people in Lao PDR.
Findings shows that despite the existence of various social health insurance schemes, people experience catastrophic health expenditure from using health services. Main causes are associated with age, income level, and gender. It proposed policy recommendations the older population in Lao PDR.
